Cycling Nutrition Quiz


What nutritional strategies would you use under the following situations? 

1.   You are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced rider. You are going for a 1-hour moderate ride. The weather is temperate.

2.   You generally ride 8 hours per week. You are going on a 3-hour training ride.

3.   You generally ride 15 hours per week. You are going on a 3-hour training ride.

4.   You are going on a bicycle tour. You’ll ride 4-6 hours a day for 6 days.

5.   You are an intermediate rider. You are going to ride a hilly century; you expect it will take you 8 hours. The weather is hot and humid.

6.   You are a racer. You are going to race a century; you expect it will take you 4 hours. The weather is moderately warm.

7.   You are a racer. You are racing a 30 minute criterium (generally an intense race on a less than 1-mile circuit course with corners). The weather is warm. Your start time is 7:00 AM.

8.   You are a racer. You are racing a 30 minute criterium (generally an intense race on a less than 1-mile circuit course with corners). The weather is warm. Your start time is 10:00 AM.

9.   You are a racer. You are racing a 30 minute criterium (generally an intense race on a less than 1-mile circuit course with corners). The weather is warm. Your start time is 1:00 PM.

10. You are going to race a 2-hour mountain bike race at 10:00 AM. The temperature is cool.

11. You are going to race a 2-hour mountain bike race at 11:30 AM. The temperature is moderate.

12. You are going to race a 2-hour mountain bike race at 2:00 PM. The temperature is hot and humid.

13. You are a track racer. You have a kilometer race scheduled at 10:30. You might race as early as 10:30; depending on the schedule you might race as late as noon. Then you have a 3K time trial in the afternoon. You might race as early as 1:00PM, or depending upon delays, as late as 4PM.
