The Essential Cyclist is directed toward the beginner rider. It's about getting on the road safely. Topics include types of bicycles, riding technique, equipment, safety on the road, basic repair, training, and commonly asked questions about cycling.

The book incorporated many of the handouts I've used as National Coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program -- an endurance program that takes beginners to a century in about 4 months, and helps raise funds to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and related cancers.
