Keep a Climbing Log (Introduction)

Want to be a better climber? Climbing ability is one of the most important attributes of a good road or mountain bike rider. In races, the ability to climb often distinguishes those who finish at the front and those who drop out.

Almost any coach will suggest keeping a training log to keep track of volume—how much riding you do, and intensity—how hard you ride.

Although relatively few people keep track of their climbing (generally because they haven’t sufficiently considered it), logging your climbing helps focus your training and helps improve your climbing ability.
